Seaport Entertainment Group (NYSE: SEG) today announced a partnership with Public Service, the organization behind Public Records, to develop a new project in the Seaport in Lower Manhattan. The restaurant concept, which will involve the revitalization of a historic building, is expected to open in 2027. This addition brings an exciting new dimension to one of the most iconic waterfront neighborhoods in New York City.
“The Public Service team is reimagining social experiences by creating platforms that combine art, culture, design, and hospitality into a single, thoughtfully curated space,” said Matt Partridge, President and Chief Executive Officer of Seaport Entertainment Group. “Their proven ability to operate creative, inclusive, community-driven programming aligns with our vision for the Seaport and will add another unique layer of vibrancy to the neighborhood.”
Known for its distinctive and multidisciplinary approach to design, hospitality, sound, and ecology, Public Records has become a defining force in New York City’s cultural scene. Since opening in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Gowanus in 2017, the organization has built a successful foundation as a multi-dimensional space rooted in immersive experiences and plant-driven food and beverage, with a diverse range of art and music presentations.
“We’re interested in giving new life to historic spaces through cultivating places with distinct identities,” said Shane Davis, Co-Founder of Public Service. “The Seaport is a particularly interesting context for us at this moment in its trajectory, and Seaport Entertainment Group is a perfect partner for us given their long-term vision for the neighborhood. At Public Records, we focused on sound as a powerful method to connect people, with food and beverage playing a supporting role in the narrative. This new project is an opportunity for us to flip the model, focusing first on bringing people together through food and beverage, with sound as an adjacency.”
The Public Service team is committed to creating safe and culturally inclusive environments, fostering community through artistic exploration and the continual evolution of diverse music and non-music programming.
Additional information about the concept will be announced closer to the expected opening.
